The Great Minds Virtual community of students, families, teachers, and staff comes together virtually several times a year for various events centered around building knowledge and having fun. The Annual GMV SnowBall highlights the vocal talents of our students interested in music, followed by the screening of a winter-themed film. At Family STEAM Night, students and families followed our STEAM teacher team in creating holograms at home using smartphones and household materials.
The Annual GMV SnowBall
At the first GMV SnowBall, students, their families, administrators, and teachers gathered together virtually from across the country to welcome the wonderful season of winter together. We donned our favorite festive gear, broke out our favorite holiday treats, listened to our talented students sing for our community, and watched a family movie together. We can’t wait until the next SnowBall!
Family STEAM Night
At Great Minds Virtual’s STEAM Night, students gathered with their families and made holograms! Our STEAM Teaching team made of Mr. Burlette, Ms. Boucher, and Ms. Wood led our community in an activity where we created holograms together using videos on our smart phones. Great Minds Virtual believes in creating a community in which all of our students feel safe, welcome, and encouraged to grow. In addition to the SnowBall and Family STEAM Night, we have hosted several external speaker events for our parents and guardians on a variety of topics they are interested in, like digital safety at home, how to have sex positive conversations with your children, why diversity, inclusion, equity, and access are important in schools, and more.
