Allyson Coates
6th Grade English Language Arts Teacher
Allyson joins Great Minds Virtual with four years of teaching experience and a dedication to innovative learning both in and out of the classroom. Her teaching journey began at Michigan State University where she received a degree in education with a specialization in English language arts along with a minor in teaching English as a second language and child development. After college, Allyson taught 7th-grade English language arts in Chicago, IL and continued to develop her instructional craft. While in the Windy City, Allyson earned her master’s degree in curriculum, instruction, and assessment from Walden University.
In her free time, she served as a coach for Girls on the Run, attended many Cubs games, and participated in some of Chicago’s half marathons and other outdoor activities. Allyson will soon be relocating to her favorite state, Michigan, and is thrilled to continue her teaching career as GMV’s 6th-grade English language arts teacher.
